The Original Orchid Block^TM Premium Coir Orchid Planting Mix is a concentrated mix of 100% organic and biodegradable coir specially formulated of coco chip and fiber for high water retention and strong aeration to promote the healthy, rapid growth of orchids.

GARDEN USES
Potting Orchids
Place a sufficient amount of the hydrated mix into the base of the pot. Place the roots gently into the mix and fill to within 1 inch from the top of the pot. For best growing results, ensure the lowest flower is at least half an inch above the mix. Do not compact coir; in order to pot loosely, tap the side of the pot and the coir planting mix will level itself in the pot.

Re-Potting Orchids
Orchids should be re-potted at least every two years. Gently tap the orchid plant out of its pot and tease the roots, retaining existing soil around its root ball. Center the plant in its new pot and add mix until it reaches one inch from the rim of the pot, firm it down gently, and add water. Do not compact coir; in order to pot loosely, tap the side of the pot and the coir planting mix will level itself in the pot.

Top Dressing
Add top dressing once a year. Simply remove the top one inch of existing mix and replace it with new mix.

Watering
Due to its high water retention properties, coir planting mix generally requires less watering than traditional potting soils. Gardeners should check the top 2-3 inches of mix and only water if it is dry.

Fertilizing
Fertilize as recommended by your local nursery orchid expert.

Helpful Hint
Coir planting mix is lighter than traditional bark-based soil mixes. Pots are lighter and easier to move. To prevent them from toppling over in the wind, try lining the pot base with pebbles or stones.
